Every year, thousands of tourists travel to Norway for magnificent experiences with the breathtaking landscapes. But a lot of them arrive unprepared for the unpredictable weather conditions and colder temperatures. Fortunately, Scandinavian Explorer has them covered, selling quality clothing tailored to the everchanging weather along with small characteristic troll figures in souvenir shops across the country. Meeting the needs of cold-sensitive tourists for almost 20 years, Scandinavian Explorer's growth and the increasing demand for their products began to highlight significant limitations within their existing ERP system, which led to a reevaluation of their IT infrastructure.
The existing ERP system, which combined ERP and online store functionalities for Norwegian customers only, was no longer agile enough to support the expanding operations in the small family-owned business of only six people working in the administration:
“We needed a system that could support our business processes, provide us with better real-time insights, and improve our ability to adapt to rapidly changing market demands. A new ERP system would also help improve our inventory management, order handling, and customer service. Additionally, we are heavily investing in e-commerce in the future, and therefore, we need an ERP system that fully supports this,” CEO of Scandinavian Explorer, Michael El Younoussi Karlsen, explains.
